When you are starting your new sandwich brand, smoothies company or organic craft beer, your logo is the visual part of your message which declares to your audience what your brand stands for and what separates you from the competition.
Traditionally, you (and we) would approach someone who knows someone who once designed a logo for someone else. Alternatively, you might approach a local printing company. Either that person (or someone) understands your brief..or they don’t.
We have tried 99designs on several ocassions. It is a clever system and here is why it may well work for you. 99 Designs has a membership of thousands of talented designers. Designers will compete (yes compete) to create your logo or website design or stationery. You declare the winner when you are satisfied.
If you click this link, you can easily launch your design contest with an exclusive, free Power Pack Upgrade valued at $99. This means that you will receive a $99 discount.
If you are considering the next step in your food business, you may well be considering the possibility of selling online. You can either hire a developer to create a custom shopping cart, integrate the system with your website, hook the lot up to a payment gateway, use SSL to secure the transaction session layer…….Ok….I have lost you haven’t I?
Believe it or not, that’s what I used to have to do and that’s not so long ago. That’s what a lot of people selling muffins, cupcakes, wine etc. had to do just to make a few bucks. It was so difficult, time-consuming, fraught with complexity, laden with code errors most of which I never understood anyway. I must have spent 3K – 4K on several sites.
Thank goodness for Shopify. I can set up a site with no technical know-how in a matter of a few hours. There are templates, there is technical support. It is simply a breeze, which is why there are so many food business owners selling on Shopify. You can do the whole thing online. You don’t even have to have your own website. Your shopify page is your website.
If you sign-up through our link, we get a small commission for referring you. It does not cost you anything as Shopify take the cut out of their price.
We have interviewed some cool businesses making their living on Shopify. Probably the easiest e-commerce do-it-yourself site we know of!
You and I and everyone else needs a business plan when starting out. What are our costs? Profit Margin? What will it cost to hire a barrista? What will my cash flow look like three weeks from now or even three years from now? If I add this product to the range, what will it take in terms of sales revenue to break even?
This information is not just for your eyes. If you are bringing in an investor or business partner, he/she/they will expect that you have given this information considered thought. A business plan says: “I am serious about this idea. Here’s how it’s going to make a profit. And helping you to make a profit is what we are all about here at MakeMoneyWithFood.com!
What do we like about LivePlan? There are lots (hundreds) of business plan templates to start with. That saves time. It also ‘walks’ us through the steps necessary to build business plans. I am not an accountant or expert business advisor. This feature keeps me on track.
We also like the fact that this is web-based. Simply put, I can access my business plans securely (yes there are several on the go at once) from any device anywhere. I don’t have to be at a particular desk or computer. This particularly impresses me. In the past, I have had to install cd’s or dvd’s and use the same computer when I want to use my business plan software.
We cannot verify this, but Palo Alto Software (the makers of the software) maintain that more than 250 thousand businesses use this. According to Palo Alto, you can try this software for 60 days before committing to it. If you are dissatisfied, you can claim a 100% refund.
Palo Alto’s LivePlan is not the only business plan software of course, but it is one we are happy to recommend.
